At St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, our curriculum is designed to form the whole person: mind, heart, and soul. As an accredited classical Catholic PreK-8 school within the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, we provide an education rooted in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, where faith and reason guide students toward truth, goodness, and beauty.

The Classical Catholic Difference
Rooted in the Church's enduring vision of education, a classical Catholic education recognizes that education is not simply the transfer of information, but the formation of the whole person, cultivating wisdom, virtue, and a lifelong love of learning.
For generations, this vision of education has formed some of the world's greatest saints, scholars, and leaders: men and women who sought truth with their minds, loved God with their hearts, and used their gifts in service of others.
At St. Francis Xavier, our classical curriculum teaches students not simply what to think, but how to think. Through an intentionally integrated approach, students discover the connections between literature, history, religion, science, mathematics, and the arts, developing a deeper understanding of themselves, their faith, and the world around them.
History serves as a framework for this integrated approach. Through the chronological study of the story of the world and the Catholic Church, students encounter major civilizations, events, ideas, and achievements in an organized and meaningful way. Across their PreK-8 education, students revisit these historical periods twice, first building a foundation of knowledge and later returning with greater depth, analysis, and understanding.
Along the way, students develop strong foundations in reading, writing, communication, mathematics, science, literature, Latin, and the Catholic faith. Through explicit instruction and purposeful study, our scholars grow into confident readers, thoughtful communicators, and lifelong learners.
Preparing Students for High School and Beyond
St. Francis Xavier provides students with the academic foundation and learning habits necessary for continued success.
Middle school students have the opportunity to test into advanced mathematics, placing them on a pathway toward advanced math courses at John Carroll Catholic High School (JCCHS). As part of Birmingham's Catholic educational community, we prepare our graduates to continue growing as confident, capable, and faithful students.
