SFX middle schoolers learn about how to try out for sports at John Carroll Catholic High School

John Carroll Catholic High School (JCCHS)’s Middle School Athletic Director Marty Rozell spoke to Saint Francis Xavier (SFX) Catholic School middle school students during lunch on Thursday about athletic opportunities for middle schoolers at the high school.

Upon graduation, SFX middle schoolers typically attend JCCHS from the ninth through 12th grades. However, seventh and eighth-grade students currently at SFX can already get involved in the following Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) sanctioned sports through JCCHS:

  • Football

  • Volleyball

  • Basketball

  • Soccer

  • Baseball

  • Cross Country

  • Track and Field

  • Tennis

  • Golf

  • Dance

  • Cheerleading

First, students must participate participate in tryouts and make the team.

SFX School also has its own athletic opportunities for students of all ages. Students can participate in the following TOY Bowl sports and compete against other Catholic schools in the Diocese of Birmingham:

  • Volleyball

  • Basketball

  • Cheerleading

Additionally, the SFX Parish has several teams in the Birmingham United Soccer Association (BUSA), in which SFX students can participate.
